Who we are
Born in 1998, Gate Volley Milan turned 13 in 2011. In these thirteen years our group grew up and conquered a respectable position in the European GLBT volleyball landscape (silver medal in Eurogames 2007 of Antwerpen, silver medal in Paris Tourmanent level AA 2011), becoming one of the most competitive teams in Milan and surroundings, in Federal championships and not.

Gate Volley is a sport group composed by
about 50 gay athlets that, divided in two teams, have training three
times per week and take part in two different championships.
The Third division team is dedicated to all
the athlets that have approached volleyball as adults and that like to
have fun by learning a new sport.
The First division team, after a stop ofone year, will start to train again in September and the new championship in 2011/12 season. The team is made up by players of good level and has leaded with very good results, always at the top of classifications, the last seasons in First Division.

Apart from the agonistic activity, Gate
Volley is associated to the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation
and takes part regularly in the major European Glbt sports events.
Tournaments such as Barcelona, Paris, Frankfurt, are usual appointments.
Gate Volley is also one of the groups which have contributed in
creating Gay Sport Italia, the National coordination of Italian Glbt
sports groups.
Since 2001 Gate Volley organizes the International Volleyball Tournament Mamma Mia. 2009 will mark the 7th edition of the biggest Italian gay volleyball tournament. In the first weekend of September during the three days of the tournament, on average 30 to 40 teams participate in three levels for a total of about 500 participants both athletes and fans.
The numbers of the first edition in 2001 till the last one in 2008 have consecrated Mamma Mia as one of the most attended Glbt European volleyball appointments. In the course of the years, the playing level has continuously increased, seizing the participation of an always more elevated number of teams, both Italian and foreign.
Each year since its creation, GATE Volley grows in its membership, events it holds, and the national and international gay tournaments in which it participates. Today GATE is a group with many members (there are 50 members plus friends of the group), respected and quite famous in gay ambient and not.
The director’s board for the association consists of 5 members, the President, Vice President, and three Councilmen. Also, other positions exist within the group, such as the Treasurer, Secretary, Coach, and various other collaborators as needed.
